Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Grünlack Spätlese 2017
Description
A fine example of the purity and balance a Spätlese can produce. Pale straw yellow with wonderful aromas of ripe peach, mirabelle and apricot jam with a hint of caramel. The palate is fruity and well balanced with fresh lemon and green herbs in perfect balance with the sweetness in the wine. The finish is long and rewarding.

Soil Type
The totally south-facing vineyard is steep as 45° and climbs from 114 m to 181m above sea level. The forest on top of the Taunus protects the vineyards from cold winds from the North and in the South the Rhine lies like a lake in front of the estate. The 50° parallel runs directly through the vineyard and the unique soil formation with Taunusquarzit topped with loam and rich loess is perfect for mineral Rieslings as it retains both water and heat very well.
