Viticulture

Feiler-Artinger winery is farming bio-dynamic (certified respekt-BIODYN) since 2008. The Traminer grapes grow partially in the vineyard site “Umriss”, sandy top soil on fossile limestone motherrock, and partially in the site “Gemärk”, a vineyard closer to the lake Neusiedlersee with the same limestone but a more depth and heavier top soil (about 1 meter with more loam content). Both vineyards are old, vines planted in 1977, 1986 and 1991 (25 to 40 years old). Planted in wider space of about 3x1 meter we do have about 3.300 vines per hectar. Climate is continental, cold winters with rain and dry and hot summers – but the last years are a little unusual and different. Total rainfall is low, about 550 mm per year.
