Description
This is a wonderfully vibrant and satisfying red from the renowned and characterful Jim Barry, with juicy fruit notes, enticing spice, hints of chocolate and a refreshing finish. It shows floral aromas on the nose, leading into rich, dark-berried fruit characters. The fine grained tannins are balanced with lifted acidity.

Viticulture
The vines are trained to a permanent single cordon with rod and spur to promote even canopy growth along the cordon for shading and to avoid clumping or crowding of fruit to reduce disease. Foliage wires are utilised to partially lift the canopy to prevent the canopy collapsing and and exposing the fruit to sunburn.
Vinification
Harvested in mid February, individual blocks were vinified separately. The grapes were destemmed and passed through a grape sorter, which removed all non-grape material before the berries were crushed to the fermenter. Fermentation occurs over 7-10 days with the must pumped over twice per day, with ‘rack and returns’ twice per day in the early stages of ferment. Malolactic fermentation occurred in tank before maturation in new, 1 and 2 year old oak for 13 months.
Maturation
12 months in French Oak
