About
The vineyard of Ch Smith Haut Lafitte was first created in 1365. In 1990, the property was purchased by Daniel and Florence Cathiard who fell in love with the site and went on to restore the 18th century tower, renovate the Chartreuse, re-equip the two underground cellars, reintroduced traditional methods of working the soil, stopping the use of chemicals and building their own on-site cooperage. Today it covers 78 hectares, producing both red (67 hectares) and white (11 hectares) wines which are amongst the most sought-after wines of the entire Bordeaux region.
