Description
Nikka from the Barrel (51.4% ABV) is Nikka’s flagship whisky and the best-selling Japanese whisky in Europe. It is a blended whisky comprised of 60% Coffey Grain and 40% malts from Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. The whiskies are aged for an average of 10 years, blended, then married for 3-6 months in barrels and bottled straight from the barrel. This technique gives the whisky its renowned name. Nikka was set up in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the “Father of Japanese Whisky” – who travelled to Scotland in 1918-1920 to discover the secrets of whisky production. Nikka combines traditional Scottish whisky-making techniques with Japanese precision and attention to detail. It is a deliciously, well-balanced whisky with notes of dried fruit, honey, coconut, spice, apple, smoke, and vanilla.
