Description
This is a very poised Syrah that is elegant, perfumed and with a subtle twist of pepper. It is made from 100% Syrah grapes grown in Saint-Joseph, arguably the best-value appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. This stylish wine lends itself to rich foods, such as venison, steak or game.

Soil Type
Soil: Granite and rock, with a shallow arable surface. On the hilltop vineyards there is some clay and ancient alluvia. The climate is continental, with warm summers and cold winters, and the famous mistral wind, which keeps the grapes healthy. The altitude of the vines is 140 to 250 metres.

Viticulture
Granite and rocks with shallow arable surface. Some clay and ancient alluvia atop the hill. Vines are planted on spectacular steep terraced slopes above the Rhône River which features a moderate, continental climate. Grapes are closely monitored in the vineyards. Average vine age is 30 years. There are 5500 vines per hectare. Gobelet pruning.
Vinification
100% de-stemmed. Traditional vinification, including a maceration of 15 days in tank with trickle cooling.
Maturation
Aged 6 months in stainless steel tanks. No fining, crossflow filtration before bottling.
