Description

Our selection presented as Waitrose Blueprint Côtes de Provence is the result of extensive tastings from different growers within differing terroirs which enables us to create our own style – a delightfully pale wine with lovely aromas of strawberries and Turkish delight. The wine has lovely mouth-feel due to the dominance of the plush Grenache, but also great texture and finesse coming from the Syrah and Cinsault which provide an underlying minerality and length on finish.

Awards

The Mediterranean's enviable weather ensures mild winters followed by very warm summers with little rainfall. Sunshine is abundant and vines typically receive more than 3,000 hours per year, twice the amount needed to ripen grapes fully. The strong mistral wind from the north helps cool the grapes in the sun and provides some protection against disease

Vineyard

Vine density: 4-5000
Yield: 55 hl/ha

Soil Type

Planted on deep and well drained gravel clay limestone soil (argilo-calcaire), their south-west exposure means vines benefit from hot days but cooler nights (helping attain better ripening and lower yields). Vines are ventilated by the 'Mistral' wind often present in the valley. The growing of grapes is carried out in a traditional manner with respect to the soil and environment. Spraying is traditional and limited and all harmful chemical treatments and products have been completely banned.
