Viticulture
Produced from old vines grown in the Riverland region of South Australia. Until recently, the area was thought of only as the powerhouse of the Australian wine industry but the rise of alternative varieties has been the catalyst for the re-imagining of the region. After the 1st and 2nd World Wars, land was given to returning soldiers to plant vines on. Many of these old vines were removed but this wine hails from one of the few remaining soldier blocks.
Vinification
The Riverland is a hot, dry, inland region that relies on irrigation from the Murray River for survival. However, the soils share many characteristics with the most premium regions in Australia and if farmed carefully the region can produce wonderful fruit quality. 60 years plus vines. Partial whole bunch fermentation, natural yeasts. No Oak.
Maturation
